As we enter in 2017, we have seen significant changes in the healthcare system, from electronic systems to required health insurance, to voice activated files and overseas involvement in the industry. One thing continues to stand out — WE STILL NEED HUMANS TO PERFORM THIS TASK!!! A big trend over the last year has been to go back to using a medical transcriptionist, as the doctors have realized that when they are using their electronic records, they take a significant amount of time to type the information in or use voice activation (since there are so many errors). Therefore, using a transcriptionist can save them so much time that they can actually see several more patients per day! Overseas transcription has also faded significantly, as doctors realize the quality of the transcription is much less than when using someone from the U.S., as the language and understanding barrier is just too significant, again requiring them to edit more files and spend more time.
